The Micronesian Medical Symposium (MMS) is organized and operated exclusively for scientific and educational purposes advocating for development of regional health policies to improve the quality of care of the people throughout the region.
The first two symposiums were of great success, it conveyed the strong message of “Pacific Partnership for Health”. Born from this vision was the Micronesian Institute for Disease Prevention and Research with a mission to apply, advance and perpetuate scientific knowledge for prevention and research of the epidemic of diabetes in the region.
This year’s symposium is focused in the Childhood and Adolescent Obesity and related diseases with a host of topics covering the whole spectrum of this epidemic by some of the most renowned authorities in this field. This symposium will be the first of its kind in the region co-organized by The Guam Medical Society, Guam Memorial Hospital, University of Guam Endowment Foundation and The Micronesian Institute for Disease Prevention and Research. It is our hope that by sharing our colleague’s experiences in the region, we can educate ourselves and shape our healthcare polices in the region. I wish all participants enjoy their stay on Guam and take advantage of the beautiful island hospitality.
